Michelle Segal Therapy

Licensed Clinical Social Worker #100143

Hi, I’m Michelle!

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience helping individuals and families work through a variety of mental health and health-related challenges. My goal is to create a comfortable, safe space where you can feel empowered and supported. I use a mix of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, strengths-based therapy, trauma-focused therapy and motivational interviewing. I tailor my style to fit your unique needs.

I work with adolescents, pre-teens, adults and families dealing with anxiety, depression, chronic illness, life transitions, post-partum struggles, and other significant life events. My approach is warm, friendly, and non-judgmental, and I strive to make sure you feel heard and understood at every step of your journey. I take great pride in developing a strong therapeutic relationship.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and I have a newly discovered love for crafting.

I look forward to working together on your path to emotional and physical wellness.

Hereditary Cancer Support

At the age of 26 I discovered I carried the BRCA 1 mutation; a gene that indicates a higher genetic risk for breast, ovarian, pancreatic and prostate cancers. When I originally went through the genetic testing myself, I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. I was intimidated and there was a lack of psychosocial support at the time.

Having navigated the ups and downs of preventative care, and now proudly known as a “previvor”, I understand the importance of having guidance and support during this overwhelming time. With a combination of my personal experience and my clinical expertise, I can offer compassion, emotional support and guidance as you navigate your own journey.

I have always been inspired by my late mother's wisdom — "knowledge is power"— and I am driven to empower others with the same perspective. It can be isolating and overwhelming facing doctor’s appointments, potential surgeries, or merely navigating the world of medical data alone. I am here to guide you on your hereditary cancer journey in whatever way you feel you would benefit from support.

I specialize in individual therapy for those impacted by a hereditary cancer predisposition. I also offer couples and family therapy for anyone who would like to process with their loved ones. You are not alone.
